GELBOYS (สถานะกั๊กใจ, RTGS: Sathana Kak Chai) is a Thai Boys’ Love series from Looke and The One Enterprise. Season one ran on ONE 31 from 8 February 2025, and season two, subtitled Fandom Status, ran from 8 August to 26 September 2026, taking the series to fifteen episodes across two seasons, with international streaming on iQIYI.

Fou4Mod (New Chayapak Tunprayoon) starts hanging around Siam Square after Chian (Pide Monthapoom Sumonvarangkul), who does gel nails, invites him along. The atmosphere is flirtatious and Fou4Mod reads it the way anyone would, right up until he works out that Chian extends the same invitation to Bua (Leon Zech), a TikTok personality, and that being invited is not the same as being chosen. His response is to get closer to Chian’s best friend Baabin (PJ Mahidol Pibulsonggram) in order to be noticed.

The Thai title translates roughly as the state of holding your heart back, and it names what the series is about. Nobody in this group will say what they want out loud. Everything runs on proximity, gel-nail appointments, group chats and who is standing next to whom.

Season one gave each of the four leads an episode of their own, titled after them, with an intro and outro episode framing the set. Season two continues the group into a run of hashtag-titled episodes, beginning with #SituationshipStatus. The series is directed by Boss Naruebet Kuno with Prinwat Rattanachaipiboonkit and Naron Cherdsoongnern, with music by Vichaya Vatanasapt.

An ensemble about a friend group in which nobody commits to a sentence.

GELBOYS has no central pair to root for, and its four leads are not arranged into two couples waiting to resolve. The series gives us a group where everyone is slightly available to everyone else and nobody will say what they want.

Season two names the thing directly. Opening on #SituationshipStatus and moving through #FanboyStatus and #SecretRelationshipStatus, it is built as a set of positions people occupy rather than a plot they escape. The conflicts turn on what the characters will not say to each other, and season two keeps them there across eight episodes.

What to expect: long episodes, an ensemble rather than a pairing, and a Siam Square setting that carries as much of the show as the script does.

The first season is laid out like a record: a set of episodes each titled after one of the four leads, framed by an intro and an outro. The soundtrack repeats the pattern. The group BUS performs the opening theme, each lead takes a solo, and all four combine on the closing track. A series that arranges both its episodes and its songs around the cast gives each of them a turn before asking them to share a scene.

It suits viewers who like friend-group ensembles, a contemporary Bangkok setting, and a situation that develops over a whole season instead of a single will-they-won’t-they.

Season one ran Saturdays on ONE 31 from 8 February to 22 March 2025. Season two opened on 8 August 2026 and ran weekly to 26 September 2026, with iQIYI carrying it outside Thailand.

Across both seasons there are fifteen episodes running 55 to 77 minutes each, which comes to roughly fourteen to nineteen hours of screen time. A gap that long changes what a returning viewer is doing, because the first season has to be remembered rather than simply continued.

Themes

Start with Chian's job, because the series does. A gel manicure is an appointment. One person holds another person's hands for the better part of an hour, at an agreed price, on a booked date, and the result is made to look permanent while being designed to come off and be done again. That is the shape of almost every relationship in this show: scheduled closeness with a removal date already built into it, repeated. It also explains why the group's social life runs on bookings and arrivals rather than on conversations. Nothing has to be declared for an appointment to be kept.

Season two moves the same problem into fandom, which is the situationship at scale. Admiring somebody publicly is a recognised position with its own etiquette, and it asks nothing of the person being admired. A whole vocabulary exists for it, which is precisely what makes it usable by people who have no vocabulary for anything more direct.

Season two was announced in April 2025, more than a year before production began in June 2026. Naruebet Kuno directs with Naron Cherdsoongnern, and the two share the screenplay credit with Pattaranad Bhiboonsawade and Prinwat Rattanachaipiboonkit.

The season one soundtrack runs to seven tracks and is built around the cast. BUS performs the opening theme, No-status Status. Each of the four leads then takes a solo: New Chayapak on Red Flag, which also appears in a second version credited to his character Fou4Mod, Pide on 9PM, PJ on Gu Ja Crazy and Leon Zech on Noid-Ah.
