About this archive
If you love how a show looks, how long the camera lingers on a glance, how a confession scene is framed, you are really a director fan. In BL and GL that job weighs a lot, because a romance carried by two performers lives or dies on blocking, framing and timing, often with young casts on tight schedules. Coaching is a big part of the work.
Directors here also sit very close to the writing. Many develop their own projects, adapt the source themselves or share a screenwriting credit, and in smaller companies one person may direct, write and produce the same series. Longer shows sometimes split the job between a supervising director and episode directors.
Names on this page include Sakon Tiacharoen, Naphat Chitveerapat, Champ Weerachit, Jang Yeong-seon and Daisuke Kamijo. My tip: pick a director whose style you liked and follow them. They tend to bring the same writers, camera people and actors along, so one name can lead you to a whole little family of shows.
