About this archive
The screenwriter is often the unsung hero of a series you love. This credit covers two quite different jobs. Writing an original series means building characters, structure and dialogue from nothing. Adapting a novel or comic is more like editing at scale: what to cut, how to spread the story across episodes, what to invent to bridge gaps, and how much to touch an ending readers already know.
Adaptation is the more common job here, with its own pressure, since fans can check every change against the book. Formats vary a lot too, from feature length films to long hour episodes to bite sized short form, and the same story gets shaped very differently in each.
Names on this page include Mook Jarinee, Naphat Chitveerapat, Kanittha Kwunyoo, Ryuji Yoshizaki, Satoko Okazaki and Teng I-han. My tip: follow one writer whose dialogue you liked. You will see which stories they were trusted with and which companies keep hiring them, and you might find your next favourite show that way.
