BIOGRAPHY

Rachanun Mahawan (Thai: รชานันท์ มหาวรรณ์; born July 14, 2000), known professionally by her nickname Film, is a Thai actor signed to GMMTV. She entered the entertainment industry in 2019 as one of the two winners of the Clean & Clear x GMMTV star search competition.

Mahawan completed a degree at King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (KMUTT) and launched her screen career in the series Dark Blue Kiss, going on to appear in 2gether: The Series (2020), Home School (2023), and My Precious (2023).

Her first large audience came from 2gether: The Series in 2020, where she played Earn, and she kept the role in the follow-up Still 2gether and in the 2021 film 2gether: The Movie. Other GMMTV work from those years includes Baitoey in Angel Beside Me (2020), Farn in The Debut (2021), Toon Theerata in the miniseries The Comments (2021) and View Nareeya in The Three GentleBros (2022), a part that gave her one of her earliest leading roles.

The year 2023 was a busy one. In Home School, broadcast on GMM25 and Prime Video from 9 June to 4 August 2023, she played Maki, one of the students at a remote forest boarding school with no phones or internet. The series ran eighteen episodes under director Kanittha Kwunyoo. On 27 April the film My Precious reached Thai cinemas, with Film as Lin among seven best friends looking back at a first love that never came to anything. It was adapted from Giddens Ko’s novel The Girl We Chased Together in Those Years and directed by Naphat Chitveerapat with Kanittha Kwunyoo. She also appeared as Rung in Double Savage, Tam in Wednesday Club and Gee in Last Twilight.

In 2024, Mahawan took the lead role of May in the Thai Girls’ Love drama Pluto, opposite Tipnaree Weerawatnodom. May is blind, and her relationship carries on through Ai-oon, who impersonates her twin sister. The series ran twelve episodes on GMM 25, YouTube and Viu from 19 October 2024 to 4 January 2025. Earlier that year she had played Pandara in the school comedy Ploy’s Yearbook. Their on-screen pairing, known as NamtanFilm, drew major regional recognition, including the Outstanding Asian Star award at the 20th Seoul International Drama Awards and a Girls’ Love Actress of the Year win at the FEED x Khaosod Awards 2025.

After Pluto the pairing stayed together. The two sang on the Pluto soundtrack. Their fan meetings took in Cambodia, China, Vietnam, Japan, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Singapore, Taiwan and Spain. In 2026 they reunited in Girl Rules, a twelve episode GMMTV series that aired from 9 March to 1 June 2026. Film plays Bambi, the daughter of a fashion designer and the former partner of Namtan’s Prim.

Rachanun Mahawan won Outstanding Asian Star at the 20th Seoul International Drama Awards for a Girls’ Love series.

She won it for her work as May in Pluto. The ContentAsia Viewers’ Choice award followed in 2025, along with the FEED x Khaosod prize for Girls’ Love Actress of the Year, and Best Couple at the Y Universe Awards shared with her co-lead Tipnaree Weerawatnodom.

Her route ran from the 2019 talent search through Dark Blue Kiss, 2gether, Home School and My Precious to the lead in Pluto. The pairing is followed as NamtanFilm, and she appears again in Moonshadow in 2026.

In my view, what stays with me about Film is how much of her work is about listening rather than speaking. May in Pluto is a character whose world is built through sound and touch, and Film plays her with a stillness that lets the other actor carry the plot. I would watch Pluto first, then Home School to see the same actor as a student under pressure.
