How to read a watch order

There are three patterns. In a direct sequel, the next part continues the same couple and story, so release order is the right order. In a new ensemble season, the title returns with different characters, so you can start anywhere. In an adaptation set, the same story is retold as live action, anime, a remake or a stage show, so you pick one version and follow it with its own film if it has one.

Renkaze’s tip. When a series is split across several records, trust the numbered list below rather than the release calendar. A short special or a film can arrive months after the main run, and watching it too early is the easiest way to spoil yourself.

Three releases, one story, told in the order they came out.

1. 12gether: The SeriesStart here. 13 episodes, 21 February to 15 May 2020, the first of three.
2. 2Still 2getherFive episodes, 14 August to 11 September 2020, a direct continuation.
3. 32gether: The MovieA 107 minute film from 2021 and the final installment.

Renkaze says. Watch it in release order and nothing gets spoiled. The films and short runs are small, so the whole trilogy fits in a long weekend.

Same title, different people. You can enter at any season.

1. 1Love ClassSeason 1, 2022, six episodes.
2. 2Love Class Season 2Season 2, 2023, a new ensemble of characters, 10 episodes.
3. 3Love Class Season 3Season 3, 2026, set in a K-pop idol world, 16 episodes.

Renkaze says. Because each season brings new characters, there is no catching up to do. Pick the setting that appeals to you, then go back for the others.

One long story in two parts, with Part 2 split into three arcs.

1. 1Fourever YouPart 1, 17 episodes, from 3 October 2024.
2. 2Fourever You Part 2Part 2, 24 episodes, December 2025 to July 2026, made of three self-contained eight episode arcs.
3. 3Fourever You Part 2: Beside the SkyFirst arc of Part 2.
4. 4Fourever You Part 2: The Sun from Another StarSecond arc of Part 2.
5. 5Fourever You Part 2: Lately, It’s Winter SeasonThird arc of Part 2.
6. 6Fourever You Specials (Johan & North)Extra content, best saved for after the main run.
7. 7Fourever You Part 2 Special EP: Beside the SkyA special episode, also best saved for after you finish.

Renkaze says. Finish Part 1 first. Inside Part 2 each arc stands on its own, so the order of the arcs is yours to follow as listed.

A tiny short, then the story it set up.

1. 1Pure VanillaA 9 minute short from 2023. Watch it first.
2. 2Pure Vanilla: Recipe for RomanceThe direct sequel, 22 minutes, released 11 November 2023.

Renkaze says. Both parts together take well under an hour, which makes this a gentle first pick for a lunch break.

Season 2 is a new story set two years after the first.

1. 1Love Is Better the Second Time AroundSeason 1, six episodes, March to April 2024.
2. 2Love Is Better the Second Time Around Season 2Season 2, seven episodes, premiered 1 September 2026, an original story set two years later.

Renkaze says. Start with season 1, since season 2 picks up two years on and is richer when you know where it began.

A short first season and a second one on the way.

1. 1The Journey to Killing YouSeason 1, six episodes, on FOD from September 2025.
2. 2The Journey to Killing You Season 2Season 2, scheduled for 8 October 2026.

Renkaze says. There is time to catch up on season 1 before the second season arrives. Check the series page for the platform in your country.

The same story exists as live action, anime, a Thai remake, a musical and the manga it started from.

1. 1Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?!Japanese live action, 2020, 12 episodes. A good place to begin.
2. 2Cherry Magic! (Movie)The 2022 film, which continues the series directly. Watch the series first.
3. 3Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?! (Anime)The 2024 anime, 12 episodes, if you prefer animation.
4. 4Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?! (Anime Movie)The December 2024 anime film. It compresses the story, so watch the anime series first.
5. 5Cherry MagicThe 2023 Thai remake from GMMTV, 12 episodes. A separate take, so it can be watched on its own.
6. 6Cherry Magic The Musical: Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?! (Musical)The 2025 stage musical.
7. 7Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?! (Manga)The manga the others come from, for readers.

Renkaze says. Choose a version, not a sequence. Follow the live action with its film, or the anime with its film, and treat the Thai remake as a fresh retelling.

Two different stories under one banner. No order needed.

1. 1HIStory3: Trapped2019. A separate story.
2. 2HIStory3: Make Our Days Count2019. A separate story with its own cast.

Renkaze says. Both were released in 2019. Start with whichever premise pulls you in.

One novel world, shown in animation, live action and comics.

1. 1Mo Dao Zu Shi (Donghua)The donghua, 35 episodes over three seasons.
2. 2The UntamedThe live action from 2019, 50 episodes, framed as bromance rather than BL.
3. 3Mo Dao Zu Shi Q (Donghua)The Q donghua.
4. 4Mo Dao Zu Shi (Manhua)The manhua.
5. 5Mo Dao Zu Shi (Web Novel)The web novel behind them all.

Renkaze says. Begin with the donghua or the live action, whichever format you like. Both tell the story fully, so you do not need to do one before the other.

A manga that is still running, with an anime and a live action.

1. 1Unexpectedly Naughty Fukami (Anime)The 2025 anime, eight short episodes. The quickest way in.
2. 2Unexpectedly Naughty FukamiThe 2026 live action, 10 episodes.
3. 3Unexpectedly Naughty Fukami (Manga)The manga, still ongoing.

Renkaze says. The anime is short enough to try in one sitting. If you like it, the live action and manga are there to keep going.
